SPIKE

Frans van Zoest (Den Haag, 28. Mai 1984), besser bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Spike, ist Songwriter, Gitarrist und zweiter Sänger der niederländischen Rockband Di-rect.

Zusätzlich war van Zoest auch als DJ aktiv. Unter dem Namen DJ Spike trat er zunächst in kleinen Clubs auf, später auch bei größeren Veranstaltungen wie dem Dance4Life-Event im GelreDome Ende 2004. Dies tat er oft zusammen mit DJ Jamie (Jamie Westland), der ebenfalls Mitglied der Band Di-rect ist.

Im Jahr 2004 war van Zoest als Gastmusiker der niederländischen Rapgruppe ADHD zu hören. Zusammen mit der Gruppe veröffentlichte er die Single “Beng Je Hoofd”.

Im Jahr 2007 gründete van Zoest die Garage-Rockband The Deaf, eine von den Sechzigern inspirierte Garage-Rockband, bestehend aus van Zoest, Keyboarder Mau, Bassistin Janneke Nijhuijs (Miss Fuzz) und Schlagzeuger Kit Carrera. The Deaf tourte 2009 zusammen mit The Spades, Furry 161, Ottoboy und DJ Dikke Dennis während der “2009 Rock & Roll Revue”.

Im Jahr 2014 trat van Zoest als Coach in der RTL-Show “Tourette on Tour” auf, in der sechs junge Menschen mit Gilles-de-la-Tourette-Syndrom und musikalischem Talent auf ein Konzert vor großem Publikum vorbereitet wurden.
