What do Giel Beelen, Dotan and Jake Reese have in common? Within seconds they fell for the charms of ‘that flamboyant singer-songwriter in the hat’. Under that hat is the Dutch-speaking singer-songwriter LAURA, who already made her breakthrough in 2016 with her singles ‘Tot Snel’ and ‘Zoete Witte Wijn’. Which, according to connoisseurs, can be the ‘start of a successful artistry, thanks to contemporary pop songs with a high sing-along content’.
With the release of her debut single ‘Tot Snel’, LAURA ended up in the playlist of radio station 100% NL and not much later the 21-year-old singer entered the ‘final team’ of the online talent show ‘Giels Talentenjacht’. A summer full of festival performances followed, culminating in a studio visit to Giel Beelen’s well-listened-to 3FM show, in which she presented herself to the general public with a stubborn translation of Afrojack and Fais’ hit ‘Hey’.
With the modest summer hit ‘Zoete Witte Wijn’, LAURA put herself in the spotlight with the producers of the feature film ‘Heart Struggle’ and, together with the well-known duo ‘Nick & Simon’, she was responsible for the title song of the same name.
“I never dreamed it could go so fast,” said the 21-year-old singer. ‘From my bedroom to the Amsterdam pop temple Paradiso to singing together with Nick & Simon for a full Ahoy. I had to pinch myself a few times when I was on stage next to my Volendam friends.
Accessible, playful and a stage animal pur sang. It won’t be long before LAURA steals the hearts of many a pop lover. In collaboration with the musicianship of the Sub-Bass Group and the lyrical feeling of Bart Bremmer, LAURA is working on an EP that you cannot escape in 2017.
